Kroton Educacional is one of the largest private educational organizations in Brazil and the world, with a trajectory of over 50 years in providing services in Basic Education and over 15 years in Higher Education. In 2010, Kroton acquired the IUNI Educacional Group, an institution that was also active in on-site undergraduate and postgraduate courses; in 2011, the highlight was the acquisition of Universidade Norte do Paraná (Unopar), the largest distance learning institution in the country. To crown this intense pace of acquisitions, in 2013, Kroton made the largest investment in its history: it announced the merger with Anhanguera and, with this, consolidated its leadership in both on-site and distance education. Finally, on October 11, Kroton concluded the acquisition of the shareholding control of Somos in another transformational step for the Company, which now integrates a complete platform with solutions, products and services for the entire Basic Education sector in Brazil , which comprise schools, education systems, textbooks, digital content, language courses and other businesses.
Currently, Kroton has 143 Higher Education units, present in 20 states and 101 Brazilian cities, in addition to 1,310 Distance Learning Centers accredited by the MEC located in all Brazilian states and also in the Federal District. In Basic Education, the Company also has 687 member schools nationwide, in addition to its own schools with the Pitágoras, Leonardo da Vinci and Lato Sensu brands.
